The society comes together in the UK for the gathering once a year. Additionally there is a retreat in the North American province every couple of years. It is during the gatherings and retreats that new members are admitted to the society.

During the gathering we pray together, we spend some time in fellowship and we reflect on a series of addresses. Silence is central to the time we spend together, as scientists we value the time we have to reflect on what we have heard and to be able to develop our thoughts during silent prayer.

Attending the gathering is part of our rule and for many is it a highlight to be together in a place among those with our particular charism of being both scientists and preachers. Since the Covid-19 pandemic we have also made aspects of the gathering available to members online – so that they can participate if travel is unavailable to them because of cost or mobility.
